Japan2005
Late summer of 05 sees Funky DL return to Japan for his 3rd major tour of the country. After the smash success of his 7-city tour of Japan in 04, DL will embark on August 17th to Tokyo and will visit Osaka, Fukuoka, Utsunomia, Kyoto and Sapporo performing his latest material from the Street Love and Since 77 albums as well as all the favourable classics.

 The spring of 05 saw the Limited Edition unofficial release of the unique album “Street Love”. Embodied with a more mainstream but still street feel, Funky DL captures every emotion on this album from the heartfelt honesty of childhood to cunning humour and delicate wordplay over the rare groove cuts and club hopping grooves. Blackcurrent Jazz (bar Classic Was The Day) is to date the most influential and colourful Funky DL album. Musically it comprises of the jazziest and funkiest breaks expressed alongside the characteristics of the classic DL rhyme style. Check the WashShop for availability on this item.

Funky DL is currently working on a host of projects including producing the debut Jazz Hip-Hop / R&B album by the songstress Dyanna Fearon, as well as producing some tracks for the new Shola Ama project. Ideas for a brand new Thursdays Love album are being experimented. The second Phoebe One single on Washington Classics is currently being negotiated.
